Summary

At-Home STD Testing for Your Sexual Health

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), also known as sexually transmitted infections (STIs), are infections that are commonly transmitted through vaginal, anal, or oral sex. It’s important to note that many individuals may have an STD without exhibiting any symptoms, which makes it critical to get tested even if you feel fine. Untreated STDs can lead to severe health complications, but fortunately, most STDs can be diagnosed and treated quickly. Take the first step towards peace of mind and get tested for STDs today, all from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

What's tested?

Chlamydia

Chlamydia, caused by Chlamydia trachomatis, is prevalent worldwide and often has no symptoms, especially in women. Antibiotics can cure the infection, but re-infection from sexual contact with an infected partner is common and can lead to serious reproductive health problems.

Gonorrhea

Gonorrhea, caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae, can affect both men and women and can cause severe complications, particularly in women, including affecting the cervix, uterus, and fallopian tubes. Dual antibiotic therapy can cure the infection, but the risk of getting re-infected from sexual contact with an infected partner is high and can lead to serious reproductive health complications.

Trichomoniasis

Trichomoniasis, caused by Trichomonas vaginalis, is a parasite that infects the lower genital tract, vulva, vagina, cervix, and urethra in women and the inside of the penis (urethra) in men. Most infected individuals don’t show symptoms, but the infection is associated with an increased risk of contracting other STDs, including HIV. Antibiotics can cure the infection, but re-infection from sexual contact with an infected partner is common.

HIV

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus that attacks the immune system and can lead to AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome). Early diagnosis and treatment are critical to managing the virus and preventing the development of AIDS. The HIV 4th generation test detects both the HIV-1 and HIV-2 antibodies and the p24 antigen, reducing the “window period” when a person can be infected but still test negative for HIV to just 18-45 days after exposure. HIV can be managed with antiretroviral therapy (ART), which can slow down the progression of the virus and prevent transmission to others.
